Aurora

Aurora Aksnes, born June 15th 1996 in Stavanger and professionally referred to as Aurora or, sometimes, stylized in the form of AURORA is a Norwegian music producer and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves was released by the record label Decca Records in May 2015 with great praise from bloggers as well as the press. The singer has released a number of high-profile song covers, including Half the World Away (by the band Oasis) for John Lewis' Christmas advert and Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) and were widely appreciated. Katy Perry, who endorsed the hit song Runaway by her, also gave the song a boost of recognition. Enjoy her day. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is that of locating the piano she had in her attic and becoming fascinated by the sound it could create. Her parents May-Britt and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to explore music and not just as professional or as a pastime, but as a way to develop. In order to do so she wrote her first new compositions. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with an affinity for Bjork's style. After her mom told her that her songs can not only help her gain not only fame but also help everyone else see their value within the global community and see the potential of their music, she made the decision to start performing in public. The piano was first played by her when she was just 6 years old and began writing music before she reached nine. It wasn't until her 14th birthday when she first told her parents. There was no way she could have imagined for her to achieve Aurora. Her words say that she simply is a fan of writing songs. She believes that music is the best way to feel anything.
